Tattoo Care

The healing process of a tattoo is one that takes time. Some tattoo’s will take longer than others to heal. A few things that may affect the healing time of a tattoo is the placement, if it is near an ankle, knee or elbow, areas around the joints usually take longer to heal. If the tattoo has a lot of color or is larger in scale, it will also take much longer to heal. Smaller less intricate designs will heal much faster. Every persons body chemistry is a little different so you can expect different results with the healing process. The most important thing is how you take care of your tattoo, in the near, and far future.

A tattoo goes through several stages of healing. Tattoo healing stage one A tattoo usually takes about seven days to heal and the beginning stage can be painful. The area of a tattoo may look very irritated, and there will be discharge and redness. Your tattoo is an open wound and it should be treated appropriately. It is very important to follow your tattoo artist aftercare instructions closely. Never re-wrap your tattoo, if your artist covers your new tattoo with plastic film, or a bandage, make sure to remove it after 2 to 3 hours and do not re-apply it again. Re-wrapping your tattoo can cut off oxygen, and suffocate your skin‘s ability to breathe which can lead to poor healing, and damage to your ink. Leaving your tattoo covered can also lead to infection, due to the trapping of pus and bacteria. Self adhesive cling wrap can be used for much longer like Saniderm Tattoo Aftercare Bandage, be sure to follow the instructions closely.

These are medical grade bandages and are excellent for healing a tattoo. Self-adhesive tattoo films provide a protective waterproof barrier from germs and bacteria while allowing oxygen to pass through to your tattoo. These films offer protection against the outside world damaging your tattoo. It is recommended to use the self adhesive tattoo films for 7 to 10 days.. You will want to use a high quality aftercare cream. I highly recommend Hustle Butter is the original luxury tattoo aftercare product for new and older tattoos. The makers of Hustle Butter stand behind their product, it is guaranteed to provide your

new tattoo with the nutrients it needs to heal. Tattoo healing stage two In stage two of the healing process of a tattoo, there is usually lots of itching, and flaking of the skin. This period of time can be frustrating, as your skin will feel like it is crawling, avoid scratching at all cost. Scratching could cause damage to the tattoo, exposing a scab, and re-introducing bacteria to the tattoo.nowasyour new tattoo with hot water, it can cause irritation to your open pores, potentially causing unsettled ink to leak out. Be sure to never soak your tattoo, lightly rinse it while in the shower. Avoid fragrance or alcohol-based soaps these products contain ingredients that irritate your skin during the healing process; artificial fragrances can cause rashes, irritation, and itching. These products can lead to poor healing and premature fading. Use hustle butter as a healthy alternative to these products. Avoid scrubbing or washing your tattoo with a cloth during the healing phase, only use clean hands or antibacterial fragrance free soap with lukewarm water for cleaning. One of the best soaps is Hustle Butter Hustle Bubbles Tattoo Soap and Tattoo Cleanser it is great for Healing and Cleaning Tattoos. Be sure to use a clean towel, or a paper towel and gently pat the tattoo area dry, never rub your tattoo when drying it. Use a high-quality moisturizing tattoo cream as often as possible during this period of time, it will offer a lot of relief. Remember to avoid scratching the peeling tattoo you do not want to risk a setback or damage.

Finally!

The final phase is the most exciting part, the tattoo looks mostly healed and the agony has passed. This is not the time to start neglecting your tattoo there is still several months of healing, and it is important that you take the in appropriate steps in caring for your tattoo to ensure longevity. Make sure that you are keeping your skin clean and moisturize with a high-quality tattoo cream. Avoid sun exposure, saunas, working out too soon and excessive sweating. Loose fitting clothing can cause irritation, rash, infection, or even scabs resulting in a possible scar. The friction on your skin can pull ink and distort the look of your new tattoo.

To ensure the best long-term results. Avoid using petroleum or mineral base product, antibacterial ointments like A&D ointment, Vaseline, these products will suffocate your skin, they can damage your tattoo by pulling ink out of your skin. Many of these products are old fashion and much healthier products have been developed like hustle butter. Avoid using excessive amounts of creams, and lotions you do not want to smother the skin which will slow down the healing process. Only apply a thin layer but multiple times a day.
